2020/2021 Curling Season Update
At a special "Resumption of Business" board meeting on October 6 the Board of Directors unanimously voted to open the curling club for all league play on Monday November 16, 2020! The board took into consideration the overall cost to run the club this season vs. not opening at all. It turned out that the cost was about the same, so the decision then came down to being able to keep our members and staff safe. The Return to Play guidelines we developed provides the basis for doing just that. We are now busy preparing the club and will be testing our procedures in the coming weeks.
Be aware that even though our original registration deadline of September 30 has expired, now that we have decided to open there is still time to register! Simply go to the Join Us landing page to download and fill in the registration form. Email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Don't delay as we need time to form the leagues and set up the draw schedules.
While we are confident we will be able to open on time, it is still possible that things could change. There is a chance that the Ontario government could decide to close down all indoor sports facilities due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and let you know if anything comes up that will change our plans.
I hope to see everyone that decides to return to the sport we love at the club this year.
Please register no later than October 19 (if possible) to allow our convenors time to set up the teams and draw schedules.
