Learn to Curl FAQ

Who can join?

Adults 18 yrs +

What is the structure of the program?

The instruction is delivered in 2-hour sessions on Sunday afternoons, starting at 3:30 p.m.  Includes off-ice instruction and on-ice mentoring by qualified instructors. Each session begins with classroom instructions followed by on ice instructions and practice.  If you need to leave a little early on occasion or miss a session based on prior commitments, we understand.

What will I learn?

The program is based on the Canadian Curling Association Getting Started Program.  It covers an introduction to all aspects of the game: how to deliver a stone, how to sweep, the rules of the game, strategy, the make-up of a team, etc. When you have completed the program, you will have learned enough to join any of our leagues.

What equipment do I need?

You need only bring clean indoor shoes with rubber soles Loose and  comfortable, warm clothing. Your  L2C membership includes the purchase of two grippers. Both grippers must be worn over your shoes for on-ice safety.  The curling club supplies all of the other required equipment for the program. For people that are keen to take up the sport, you may want to consider purchasing a broom or curling shoes, and like any other sport there is other attire and optional equipment – but to get started, you don’t need any of those. There will be a cleaning protocol for equipment you use.

How much does it cost?

The cost is $190 including 8 in person lessons and 2 grippers.  This registration qualifies you to join the following season ( 2022-2023) with a $100.00 discount on regular fees.
